My good friend, I'll call her Shelly, has a big obsession with a popular actor of our time. She likes everything about him, his messy hair, his slender body, his quirky smile.
Shelly will wander around during her time off and find photos of her "hunk." She found one that she sent me and said "I need this in a story." I grinned (always looking for inspiration here!) and said "ok." There was a short list of parameters she placed down on the story, including "don't use his real name," "make so and so's hair this color," and "I don't like this part of the picture erase it." Any one who's ever written a paper in school learns how to cater to their audience - the better you are the better your grade. I've sent her the first chapter of the piece (I'm guessing either a novella or a full length feature.) I had never truly considered writing a piece about twins before and her direction and requests are bringing about a lot of excitement, she's happy and I'm happy. There comes with it instant gratification knowing that someone's reading and loving it before

Its been a while since I've done an instrumental Sexy Song of the Week, but today I'm just feeling that vibe. There is a lot of hype going on in the media today about what marriage should be, and what its classically been, arguments have been made that people in the bible had multiple wives, others say that this is a sin against God and was an example for what not to do. But they still had the opportunity to do it. Sexual liberties have ebbed and flowed like the tide, I've seen movies about sex through ages indicating that Roman lifestyle -especially among the social elite- consisted of a man and wife and their lovers, sometimes male and male, sometimes female and female, and sometimes a wild orgy. This past weekend I was given the opportunity to visit a "Swingers Club." I went down to the pool area with my lover, and we proceeded to swim amongst perhaps 20-30 nude people throughout the night. Some were making love, some were simply chatting, some were watching, some were simply enjoying the nudity and relaxed atmosphere. The strangest thing to me was how natural and normal it all seemed. There was no hypes or stigmas, no one cared who was doing who or how. It was relaxed and quiet and easy. Love is a different beast to each person, it means something different to everyone, and it holds special meaning in different ways to all. Romeo and Juliet are considered classic love, and yet it was between two adolescents. Juliet was betrothed to someone she barely knew and it was accepted and the "norm." By today's standards if a daughter of 14 was being told by her parents that she was to marry someone she had never met in their mid to late twenties it would be considered abuse or at the very least gross. Yet it was hugely common then for a young woman even as young as twelve to be married and to start trying for offspring, especially if that man or woman had a title or money. Today if we so much as mention that in a book we need to be careful how we mention it... especially with erotica. (Notice the warnings in the beginning of most erotic books... "all characters participating in sexual acts are 18 or older.) We are the makers of today's world. We are continually choosing what is "normal" what is "right" and what is "wrong." What's more we're choosing what others must obey and believe. Think about the Montague's and Capulets, each lost their child because of forcing a belief them, and their inability to see something from a different light. I realize this post probably will frustrate some of my readers, but what is erotica without open-minded love? I invite all to place a comment on this blog for your chance to win a $5 Entering into the right mindset for an erotic author can be the easiest and hardest thing to do. With life's trials (money, kids, significant others, death/illness, etc.) we can't always "think erotic" especially if our particular brand of erotic often comes out as "Kinky Fuckery". Sometimes we need that influx of sweet romance and that overwhelming knowledge that we're loved.
Last night I was in a funk. I was stressed, concerned about doc bills, finances in general, and arguing with my 2 year old, I didn't get any of what I'd hoped to get done finished, my sales are about half what they were, and frankly I felt like an utter and complete failure. When my husband got home there was such an out-pouring of love that I was quickly pulled out of it. Every opportunity he snuck a kiss, tweaked a body part, and essentially ignited up my libido. When he took me to bed there was gentle romance, building and building until finally neither of us could take it any longer and we erupted into it hard and strong. . . I'm sore today. Sometimes love and sex can put you into a much better place, making you feel worthy or in an opposing view, burning your unworthiness away. Sometimes you need that kiss of love to strip away the life's shit and bring you back into focus, to allow you to write and enjoy what you're doing. God, Professor! I've been thinking student-professor for some time now, trying to decide what it is I find sexy about this "semi-taboo" subject, is it the short pleated skirts and pigtails? The sweet innocent school girl being drilled by an older and more experienced male? Ouch, Professor! Perhaps its the domineering, dare I say abusive, pencil-skirt-wearing, hair-in-a-tight-knot, breasts-barely- concealed professor? When I decided to do this sweet release series I wanted to fully explore what it was that I thought made student-professor relationships hot, and I quickly discovered a lot more than I had originally thought. Mmm, Professor! Suddenly the idea of a yardstick slapping against a naked backside sprang to mind, sprawling all over your professor's desk, the idea of being caught, and of course what series would be complete without the big yellow bus? Do Us, Professor! Sometimes the exploration of a certain "kink" will broaden your mind and help you discover that it should have been in your heart all along. I knew delving into this series that it was a hot topic, and having touched on it with my Cheer Squad, I felt like I was beginning to know why. It wasn't until researching and really immersing myself into the genre that it became one of my favorites though. Sure, I own my share of "school girl" clothes - I did my hair in the little pigtails on occasion to "inspire" my lover. But now.... Now I get it. Sure its about the innocence, the taboo, the "danger" of being caught, but to me its really about lust. The overwhelming desire that drags you away from what is considered "appropriate" and into a relationship that however fleeting likely impacts the characters forever. ***SIMPLY LEAVE A COMMENT AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST TO WIN BOUND TO HIM!*** I have recently been reading 50 Shades, and one thing that continually strikes me is the use of music through the entire book. E. L. James has no issue whatsoever mentioning some songs by title in her books, and the moods they cast help shift and adjust the emotions tied into that section of the book. Take the below two songs, sexy, erotic, breathy, vs. . . . . . fun and silly, old school romance. The diversity fits with the sections of books they're aligned with. (If I remember right a graphic sex scene and a sweet dance at a party.) On E. L. James' website she lists a selection of music from the books. Stephenie Meyer also is rather infamous for having her soundtrack in mind when she was writing The Twilight Series. If you visit her website she includes entire lists of music she wrote to, was inspired by, and her own soundtrack, one for each book. The idea of a "Booktrack" has come so far as to now be released in an Apple App. Booktrack adds ambiance, soundtracks, and special effects, while you read. The app claims to track where you are reading and create a "truly sensory experience." And from the reviews it seems to do just that. Have you ever experienced Booktrack? Do you listen to author's "Soundtracks" when they're available? Do you come up with a sound track while writing? Comment below with your email address for your chance to win: For your Kindle, Nook, or in .pdf. The winner will be chosen Tuesday (Aug. 7th) in the morning.
With the Olympics in full swing, today I figured we'd talk about dreams. Dedicating a persons life to their dreams can place a person in an interesting situation, sometime success, sometimes failure.
I was going to be a video game animator, I dedicated four years of my college life to it, and went in obscene student debt, literally they wanted a house payment a month to repay. The problem was that about two years into it I discovered the details about my dream career and decided that I would be sacrificing too much, 60-80 hours a week would murder my family life. The decision to stay in school became more a default, no longer a dream. Look at Wu Minxia, a young Chinese diver who was taken from her family and trained day in and day out to dive. Sure she got the gold for the third time, but at what cost? Not knowing her family, not knowing her mother was battling cancer or that her grandparents had died! We'll never know if it was her dream originally or if it was the dream of her family and government, but she was dedicated and she did work hard. Dreams are a driving factor for all of us, whether its a dream of owning a home, being an olympic athlete, becoming a doctor, having children, and all dreams come with a fight if they are to come true and be a success. For those of us that write there is almost always a dream of being discovered and hitting it big. But in most cases, it takes dedication and time. Putting dreams into our characters makes them more real, offers them a driving force, and shows the reason why they are who they are. I wanted to personally thank all those that participated in the Hero's Blog Hop this past weekend - writers, readers, and commenters alike!
